I've been watching your lj for about it a week and I must say that you've inspired me. I'm not rather savvy with cooking, nor do I have as cool a bento as you do (I'm especially envious of your Totoro ones ^_^), but I have been throwing together little bento lunches every day this week (except today as I had to get up way too early...). I'm rather astounded at how you just whip these togther, but I had read in your info that you've been into cooking for a while. I myself am just getting started (sadly at 20 years old...), so I hope to be as awesome as you with bento packing one day. I do have a question I was hoping you could answer, and I hope you haven't already answered it somewhere else, but where did you get the shapes that you use to cut your veggies with? And how does the egg mold work? I'd really like to try it out sometime. Thank you for your time :)
I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. Actually, I wouldn't find anything wrong with being 20 years old and not knowing how to cook. Rather that I'd be frustrated that I couldn't do it. But my mom's been getting on my case about it. The same mother that raised me on fast food and TV dinners for a good majority of my life. Home-cooked meals were a *treat* for me. So I've been trying to teach myself. It's rather frustrating because I have no mentor, but I've been doing the best I can. I haven't really been "bento-ing" as much as I have been trying to just cook asian style foods (mostly due to the fact that I have no where to take the food once it's done cooking ^-^), but once school starts up again, I hope to be bringing my lunch rather than buying subway or something unhealthy from the snack machines. Your posts are very helpful and I'm trying to draw inspiration from the meals you make. Thank you very much for starting this LJ because it's your beautiful bentos that gave me that little push to try. :)

Here is more info on the egg mold - http://mmmbento.livejournal.com/19368.html?nc=31
And the mini-cookie cutters (and the egg mold) I bought from the bento store -- check my links list!
I hope you're still bento-ing!
