that looks amazing!! i LOVE ochazuke -- it's definitely a comfort food for me. we add small kaki (arare, rice crackers) to it, too. gives it that toasted rice flavor and adds a little extra crunch :o)

we also use the instant packets a lot. i'll take a picture of it and post it for you when i get home just in case you're interested :o)

I have been looking for those rice crackers forever! And thanks for the picture of the instant ochazuke as I would have never been able to find it in the store. :) I will have to try it out! Any favorite flavors?

i like the original one (pictured), but i'm also really partial to the shiso flavored one, too (it has a picture of a sakura on it instead of the little devil guy on the original one) :o)
