I don't know whether it matters that they are both hopelessly out of touch when they can just do what they want anyway. I mean, obviously it matters, because it means that Britain and the US are going to get stuck in to even more Really Stupid Projects, but I don't think it matters to George and Tony.

The news and pictures coming out of Lebanon are awful, just awful. Bombing civilian settlements is petty and vindictive (both of which words are utterly inadequate to convey the wrongness of what Israel is doing).

Sorry, I just got irate after reading some of the comments to those columns you posted -- was it last week? I swear, if Israel nuked Washington DC in an unprovoked attack there would still be a huge chorus of people saying it was perfectly OK and that anyone critical of anything Israel does is obviously anti-Semitic.

OK, maybe not. But, you get the idea.
