Not clearly getting the ONE KEY WORD in a sentence at a moment of incredible emotional importance is just the sort of thing that would happen to me too. Also the awful awful angst.

(My hearing is excellent. My concentrating, not so much.)

(Now that I think about it -- speaking of awful angst -- MM is probably a Roy Orbison kind of guy. It almost counts as country, and there's always a quiet dignity to the way RO grieves when he doesn't get the girl. And MM might well appreciate the four-octave operatic voice range.)

Funny, I've got half a chapter of romantic angst on the computer myself. So I should finish it today instead of boring things like cleaning up the toy room?

TBF, I wrote this between 6:30 and 7:30, right between my five hours of sleep and my work day. I'm probably a terrible person to consult on the prioritizing of fics over real life.

That being said, toy rooms that are too neat are just kind of sad, aren't they? I mean, really, any toy room looks better played in. And your contributions to our little fandom are always my pleasure to read.
