Posted with the following disclaimer: I absolutely (obviously, see previous posts) encourage donating money to disaster relief as soon as possible.  The first 72 hours of a crisis are the most important, when the most possible aid is needed.  But I also think it is helpful to have a reminder of the bigger picture.
