phantasmrose has a general movie poll here and a poll on women in movies hereNew computer is going to cost me over $2100. I’m in a bit of shock over that. I was hoping for $1,200 - $1,500, which is what I usually pay for computers. But it’s going to have some sort of super special new memory (DDR-3??) and a 19-inch flat panel monitor. So. I dunno. You can get a good external floppy disk drive for around $30.

Thanks! That's not too bad. I think I will probably do that rather than copying all my fanfic and photos of naked men from floppy to CD. ;)

VJ annoys the crap out of me--as does Mary Alice's attitude towards it. It's obvious that she's crushing on the guy and is willing to turn a blind eye. That being said, why the fuck did they not go storm his room and take the book back?

The Smart Off was HYSTERICAL! One of the best reality show moments ever, especially when she tried to prove her street smarts and said that Mary Alice's last name was Alice XD

As for Next Iron Chef, I just don't care for John Besh, and if spoilers are true, that's just fine. He just strikes me as kind of...smug, I guess. Go Symon!

Now that you mention it, I can see Mary Alice crushing on VJ. I don't know why that hadn't occurred to me before. It is obnoxious. I didn't see the part about the book in his room. But I would think at least Andre would be willing to do whatever to get it back.

Mary Alice looked really, really pissed when Lisa said her last name was Alice. Hee! Yes, Hysterical!

I'm totally with you on the NIC thing. Go Symon! I think he'll fit in really well both with the current Iron Chefs and with the format. He's fun and playful but not over-acting and his food looks yummy!

And he's not smug like Bobby Flay either, which is an added bonus!

Hee! True! Any additional smugness would probably cause the iron chef platform they stand on at the beginning to collapse!

2100 seems quite...expensive, even with the DDR-3 memory and a flat panel. I don't know why manufacturer's insist on no floppy drive, I use mine constantly.

Did not get to theater, will have to squee over MC next weekend. :(

Yeah, I thought it was pretty expensive, too. Can I email you the quote so you can help me figure out why it's so high? I guess I can get an external floppy drive at some point. I don't think I have anything critical on floppies. I find them easier to use, though, than a CD. Not sure why.

Too bad about not getting to the theater. I'm actually very seriously considering going again on Saturday. Wish we could go together for realz, but we'll just have to try the pretending to go together thing again. Definitely go this weekend. I'm concerned that with the bad reviews and low turnout it may not be in the theater much longer. And it's truly wonderful.

yes of course, mail me the quote and I'll be glad to vet it for you.

The kids are moving into their new apartment this weekend, so perhaps I should just go after work one night this week. That sounds like a great plan!

Thank you! You're wonderful! I have two email addies for you. Is sbcglobal the right one to use?

Yes, that sounds like a good idea to make sure you get to see it in the theater while it's still there. It's absolutely worth taking the time out to see, I promise.

I just can't believe a team I disliked was eliminated so early! Yay! I was dreading watching them for the entirety of the race, but they're gone! I hope this is a sign of things to come this season.

I know! Thank goodness for donkeys! It was a very good opening episode, I think. Now if we can just get rid of a few more obnoxious whiney people ...
