I'm so sick of people going "But Dialidol said!" in their claims that Blake should have gone home: Dialidol has been notoriously unreliable this season, and like I pointed out to others, the difference between all three was so small that it was easily a margin of error difference--they could have been totally swapped around and we wouldn't know it.

And yay for Blake getting Melinda fans!

Yep, they've been fairly worthless as to who is going home this year, except when it was already obvious. But they can always hide behind their "margin of error."

Yes, yay for Blake getting Melinda fans. I think an awful lot of people wanted a Blalinda final and are very disappointed.

Yeah, they've had an abysmlly low rate, but I'll sure they'll claim it be much higher.

I would have loved a Blalinda final, but what can you do?

I honestly did not think I needed to vote much for Melinda, but I should have known better. My co-worker tried voting the entire two hours and only got through 34 times, and she was trying the back lines. After she told me that, I really did not think I needed to vote for Melinda. Still, mature, professional, really good singer? No way she can possibly win a reality TV show. She doesn't bring the drama. :( I still have a dream Blalinda final in my subconscious, though.

Melinda’s fanbase may be large, but they don’t seem particularly active or organized.

I noticed in the homecoming shots that Melinda's home base was much less than Jordin's and Blake's. That also lessened my surprise that she was voted off the show. I could see that she wasn't getting a lot of home support. Of course, home being Nashville, that wasn't too surprising. I mean, Nashville is used to it's true music stars, and an AI singer doesn't rank there.

Last night? With his dad? Sweetest AI moment, ever. Giving his flowers to Melinda and bowing to her, well, that’s the kind of guy he is.

Oh, my God! I know! That was such a class act right there. He's really a good person and you can see that.

So, shenaningans on the votes this week? If you believe DialIdol’s results, then yes, obviously.Wha?? I'm out of the loop on this. DialIdol predicted a Melinda/Blake finale? I didn't realize that. They're almost always right ( ... )

That made me so sad for her! She really deserved more support. :(

I knew Blake's homecoming was bigger than big because I watched the videos of it online all weekend, but I was surprised it was that much bigger than Melinda's.

Absolutely! If I had a daughter I'd sit her down and make her watch various Blake clips and tell her, "See, that right there. That's the kind of guy you want to marry."

I think that Simon quite obviously knew that Melinda was going home and was pouting over it from the beginning of the show.

Good call there! I was wondering what was up with his demeanor.

Responding to this again because a resident of Nashville posted over a TWoP with some very logical explanations as to why Melinda's crowds were so small this weekend. WRT her college visit, last weekend was graduation and there were simply very few people there:

Post No. 508 in the middle of the page, here:
To some degree that's true, but as Nashville residents my hubby and I were surprised we missed all news of her homecoming this weekend.

"As for Belmont's poor turnout... Graduation was this weekend... Friday night (grad students) and Saturday morning (undergrad). This probably had something to do with the low numbers of fans as students usually have to be moved out of campus housing by Sunday of graduation weekend and might have been preoccupied with attending graduation parties or getting their crap outta the dorms."

Hee! This is gonna sound like they've programed me! I follow the directives of theblakergirls: I vote using two phones and hitting redial repeatedly and I use only the back lines when there is more than one line, so I always get through. At the top of the hour when all the lines are usually busy (first 10 minutes or so), I use text, only as text votes don't get busy signals. If I were fast enough at texting I would only text on my cell phone and redial on my landline, but I'm not good enough at it so it slows me down a little, but I figure getting through is better than being fast but not getting through at all. During the 4 hour voting blocks I only used 2 phones for the first hour and I estimate I voted around 1,000 times or more. Last Tuesday I was out and only had my cell phone, but I talked peach1250's very nice son in law into voting with me, so he got in about 50 for us. On Tuesday, since we'll have another 4 hour voting block and things are critical, I'll use both cell and landline the entire time. And I'm going to buy a huge extra chunk of ( ... )

What are Jordin's politics? The only place I've heard anything about them are vague references on LJ.

She's a fundamentalist, and performs at anti-choice rallies.
