Is there an entomologist in the house?

Does it mean anything when the dragonflies flock together? I was out at the dog park yesterday when a few hundred dragonflies descended on the park. One or two is quite common - the park is centered on a lagoon inlet from a larger lake - but I was literally walking through a flock of dragonflies yesterday.

Are they suppose to do that?

wtf

Yeah.

When I was on vacation last year there were swarms of dragonflies so I looked it up.

Turns out they spend 90% of the life as grubs so when they actually become dragonflies they're on a 'mate and die' schedule.

See you learn something every day.

I just had never seen so many at once. The dog park isn't that big, but it was amazing to see hundreds of dragonflies at once.
