After a couple of years of intermittent prodding by evilhat, I've finally been prodded into getting a journal/blog. I'm not sure how often I'll be using it. Journals have always seemed better in the abstract than in the execution to me. Good job writing about how you cannot write, and I'm sure that many people started their logs like this. But now they're completely into it, writing in excruciating detail about every single aspect of their lives, spending every waking moment creating updates... but don't let that scare you away.

So what's the 'million words problem'?

There's an old saw batted about in the writing newsgroups that in order to write anything publishable, one needs to write a million words. The literary equivalent of bird feeders, ashtrays, bar stools and picture frames in high school shop that leads, perhaps, to something useful, or beautiful, or both.
