I Want a Mac

Huh. I was JUST LISTENING to this track (though on original album).

Macs can be quite charming indeed. I don't have one simply because I have objections to their frightful proprietary approach to hardware: any computer which requires a 70-some dollar screwdriver to allow me to insert additional memory offends me. it's been years since those days, but I still remember. I think Apple's gotten a lot better. They're still slightly expensive compared to PCs on the desktop end, but not so much on the laptop end of things. The new PowerBooks in particular seem very well packaged. I do think Apple's got problems on keeping up with the CPU performance end of things, and I hope IBM and/or Motorola can address this. In particular, I want Hyperthreading or its equivalent on the PowerPC platform and on a mobile CPU platform, so that some of the benefits of an SMP environment make it to the laptops, where I think Apple is far more competitive.

Besides, one can always buy a 'stripped' (relatively speaking) Apple, and stuff it full of Crucial RAM.
