I'm about midway through. I haven't read in like a week or so, as I was busy with my mom in town and then starting this new semester, but I will be back at reading it soon, hopefully this weekend. It's a great read and does really good justice to JK and the person he is. I love how Brinkley framed it around his conversations with him, as well as intense research of Vietnam, the circumstances of that era, etc. It's fascinating!
And I will definitely do more of these posts. It's so fun!
All I can think of is the story from the book you told me about in which the poor Soldier was skinned alive by the VietCong that they told the guys about a the POW training camp. That poor , poor guy. How he must have suffered. I'll never forget that.
Definitely. :( It must've been truly terrifying to have been over there then. Truly hell on earth.
I'm still reading this book btw, now in addition to the short story contemplation I just posted. I am SO slow! lol. I am so enjoying it, both out of my endless fascination/affection for JK and just how interesting it and the history of it all truly is. It would be neat if they made a movie out of it in the same way "Faith of My Fathers" was made from JM's book. (Well I guess it kind of was, with the "Going Upriver" documentary, but I mean like an actual movie-movie, with actors and whatnot..)
