Bathtime...

Why do the baby books think that bathtime is a FUN, bonding time?

In our house, bathtime involves lots of crying and waving in the air of extremities. I fail to understand how this can be FUN when my child acts as if I were torturing her. At least she is clean now...

I thought you were going to wait and do it with me... or was she THAT stinky?

I think she's too young to appreciate anything beyond eating sleeping and cuddling right now. It'll probably be fun when she's bigger.

Oh, and I hope we're talking about the baby crying and waving extremities...

Wil beat me to it...wondering which one of you was crying and waving extremities. ha ha. Katie and you will both get to love bathtime once she is stronger, can sit up a bit & isn't so scared of drowning. Tiny babies have an amazine sense of survival!! Screaming & waving arms & legs was always my response to fear of drowning too & I didn't get over it until 1995.
p.s your "drained" is a nice touch. I hope it wasn't that bad though.

They don't like being cold. They showed us when bathing a newborn to keep any area not being washed covered with the towel. We had a big bath sponge the baby lays on and just did local spongey wash with a dry towel on top of the baby to keep him warm.
