You're not the only one. i used to always listen to certain music that would calm me down especially "Stranger in Moscow", "Lovin" with the Jackson 5, "I'll Be There", "Will You Be There?" and if i want something to cheer me up, i usually would listen to like "They don't care about us", "The Way You Make Me Feel", Billie Jean" something that more upbeat where i felt like dancing or draaming i was dancing and felt good about myself. Thanks to MJ's music. I am glad i am not the only one who do this..
You are not alone... haha... no pun intented! *cough* yeah when I get annoyed with my parents my favorite thing is to drown them out with "leave me alone"... they hate it of course but o well :o)
I have to be cautious of what I listen to because while some songs calm me down, others make me very sad. I can't listen to Will You Be There too much, it really gets to me, You Are Not Alone does, too. I've been listening to Stranger In Moscow A LOT lately. It's very relaxing and doesn't make me bawl.
To just get in a good mood or to just enjoy MJ and forget about the rest of the world, They Don't Care About Us, Dirty Diana, Threatened, Billie Jean, You Rock My World, Leave Me Alone.. etc.. all very high on the list.
I am the same way with 'Will You Be There'. It's a very very emotional breakdown when I hear it. Images of the memorial are in the back of my head. The thought of him calling out and seriously asking 'Will you be there'. The almost angelic being of the song, it gets me. I think it always will.
Mmm, yeah, "Will You Be There" was tough for me to listen to for a little bit there, too. It still gets me pretty emotional but it's more that I feel... *moved* rather than sad, if that makes any sense.
The song Smile makes me sad, but peaceful in a way, unlike Will You Be There. That used to be my favorite song, but I can't listen to it right now at all. The songs Beutiful Girl and Someone in the Dark are some of my favorite mellower songs. Also, Hold My Hand (the song that leaked last summer) I can just sit and listen to that song over and over again and find it calming, for whatever reason.
Oh yeah, I've always been guilty of a lot of Jackson. See my Last.fm: "JacksonBowie"
But his voice soothes me a lot.
Normally, it's David Bowie's job to do that (since he used to be the only person I knew with an imagination like mine and because I've been listening to his work for about my entire life).

I am glad to know I am not the only one who feels the same towards his music.
