LOVE! I'm always a sucker for gen, and this story is a best-of-all-worlds mix of a moment in a building relationship, and an intriguing look at how Storybrook might work - and how Henry and Emma might start subverting the curse. Rapunzel only ghosted at the edges in her non-literal form (is Henry meant to be her Prince?) which if anything works better - aside from the main case everyone will be sliding in and out of focus.

As it usual, small details make it shine - the conflict in the way Emma thinks of the Sheriff, Regina not being able to deal with crying, the lack of a "the end" when you look up from the pages. :D

Thank you! :) It's just how I would think, if embroiled in something like this - that I could start subverting the curse on a case-by-case basis, and maybe it would reverse the ~flow. (But because I am a writer, I would then have it not working, and Emma getting more and more disillusioned, so that another approach would be needed.)

I think I had the vague idea that Henry's not her Prince, but he loves Rapunzel regardless, and it might be breaking the usual fairytale mode and finding *new* happy endings as the only way to break the curse.

I'm glad the "no end" had an impact for you. It's a sort of Narnia despair, winter and never spring end that I was going for.

Hmm, this past ep complicates that a tiny bit, though there is still so much room for success and failure (now that she has a little boost on her side, after the startling but ambiguous result to Mary/John Doe)

Unless the end of the show involves everyone falling back into FairyTaleLand, the theme of the show HAS to be "no end." :D Which is very much reinforced by the moments when Henry ripped the final pages out of the book, and then when Emma burned them. Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with symbolism ~*+!

The success made me feel more, oh, the queen's going to let Emma think her efforts are ~good~ efforts, before she rips that away. So... yeah, it would be too much of a downer if Emma fails every week. I like the idea we don't know whether she's going to fix things or make it worse.

The very fact that the letters OUT are highlighted on the book work with that parallel, the way OUT meaning there is no end.

Oh, this just hits the spot for me. Emma is my favorite character and the dynamic between her and Henry and her and Mary Margaret is so fascinating to me. There are so many parallels and it's all so beautifully rendered, both on screen and in this story. You've written some deep stuff with a lovely subtlety that works so perfectly. I hope to read more from you in the future.

Thank you so much! The Henry/Emma/Mary Margaret dynamic is glorious, so layered, that it's so much fun to explore. I'm looking forward to how they play things out. My favourite thing in fiction is secret identities, and them *all* basically having secret identities is GLORIOUS. In most things, only one person has a secret, so there's only one way their secret can be revealed, and now there's literally hundreds of way these people can find out who they are, and we can explore that. <3

I'm so glad you like it! I am always nervous of writing in a new fandom, with the "HAVE I GOT THE VOICES/TONE RIGHT" panic, so it means so much that you said charmingly manipulative and conflicted as that's what I was aiming for, ahhh. <3 <3

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Henry and Emma are just a delight together, and your dialogue for them--and the unsaid things within their lines--just sparkles.

Thank you! Getting voices right, and getting right what they ~don't say~ is always a worry of mine in a new fandom, especially with so relatively little source material (although, I write fanfic for movies, which is less source material than we've had for OUaT, so I shouldn't have been *so* worried!) that I am so thankful you thought this. <3

Oh this, I enjoy. I haven't read much fic in this fandom yet. Kinda nervous too, given my extreme love of the show. But I quite like this. It's very well done.

Thank you! I was probably as nervous writing this as you were about reading it. D:
