Great casefic! So enjoyed reading this! I love the movie heist idea, and Sterling as the antagonist... and observer, too. An extremely unreliable narrator, heh... still, his observations of Eliot and Nate are interesting. I like a good outsider POV. This is a fic I'll enjoy rereading.
Tired of Nathan Ford's never-ending melodrama and extended unresolved sexual tension with Miss. Sophie Devereaux. He thought enduring eight years of it alongside Nate at IYS was bad, but he was even doing it now, urgh.
lol irl
Nate wasn't entirely sure Serenity was really a heist movie,
Hardison, I see what you did there...
Eliot smiled at him encouragingly, using the smile Sophie had made him practice until his face was sore. Apparently his regular smile was a little too creepy to use while on the grift.
*G*
So many good lines, I could go on quoting. I'm gonna go rec the hell out of this baby.
I love this fic so much! Case fic is so hard to do well, but you balanced the con and the characters perfectly. Sterling in particular is wonderful - smart, insightful, and always keeping his own best interests in mind :)
I sniggered at every one of your POV intro-lines, but this one: (James Maybe I Lost This Time Sterling versus Nathan Ford-The Man Who Might Not Be Honest Any More But The Man Who At Least Knows The Truth)? Is just hilarious!
I love the humour you have in this, but that touch of angst with the worry that Nate's falling apart and Eliot being touched that Nate would remember what he'd said about not having friends and use it in a similar circumstance? Awesome.
I liked this a lot. A case fic is always difficult, but you managed it extremely well. I liked when you showed the solution, it was a lot like on the show. I like Sterling a lot, on the show and here!
