Hopefully Character Animation. Thanks! I really appreciate it! And if you by chance have any pearls of wisdom regarding portfolios to drop, I will GLADLY pick any up and make a necklace! (Or a noose...) ~_~;

i can't say i'm an expert on what calarts is looking for in a portfolio, since i went to the other school that didn't require one...but! i'm sure they want a reel if you already have animation you've done, or put your best drawing skills forward. show form and perspective. i'm not an expert though! ^-^;;;

are you going for 3D? i also don't know anything about that. o_o;; (i'm not as useful as i look!)

Oh but you are! You just don't seem to think so!

I am going for Character- which is the art of acting animation. Basically turning a drawing into an actor. it's kind of hard to explain, but they teach both traditional AND 3D, so I will have both types in my portfolio, but they believe that the ability to draw in real life and not just on a computer is the most important skill to have. Thankfully, I concur with that!

i know what character animation is. i majored in animation. most schools teach both, unless you go to that video game one in washington.

-- i was just wondering if you were going for 3D or 2D? i didn't know if you picked your preference or not. not that you have to pick right now, nor do you have to pick during or after school, i was just curious is all :)

draw draw draw!

What I think I really want to focus on is storyboarding. I know that isn't a major, but I want to learn all aspects of animating and try to get a job as a storyboard artist. My ideal job would be with Pixar (Naturally! XD) which specializes in 3D of course, so I need to know all the techniques with the hopes of getting my foot in the door. Complicated, yes. Near impossible, yes. Deterred? Not really. Determined? OH HELL YES!

puddle -- i'm doing storyboard too!!! :D

Mainly because i'd rather draw for a living than animate in 3D (it drives me nuts!) i've been submitting like crazy, and i'm going to a port review tomorrow to get some tips. i'll pass anything useful along. learning all the animation stuff totally helps with that too. ideally, i want to do vis dev, but i need to be in the industry first, then i can make the switch. i'm learning flash so i have something fall back on also...so much to do!

emeryville is supposed to be suuuuuper nice! <3
