I survived the EAST COAST earthquake of 2011

Unless you live outside of the US, I suppose you've heard of the earthquake we had on the east coast today.  The Californians have been  teasing us for our reaction to the earthquake.  But it was a 5.8 earthquake and not something to be ignored.  I lived in earthquake prone Japan for many years and never felt anything as strong as this earthquake ( Read more... )

A 5.8 is actually a decent sized earthquake. For the people who went through the Northridge quake, it wouldn't feel like much. But even a 5 can do massive damage (and cause deaths) in California where things are set to withstand stronger than that.

Glad that you are all right though.

Glad you are safe : ) I'm from CA and no, 95% are not making fun of you as we know that it is a rare occurrence there and the last thing you would be expecting. Also building codes would be different and we know such a magnitude, as bad as it would be here, could be devastating in places that use brick and non-earthquake proof engineered building. Don't you just love the media, the more they sensationalize, the more viewers they get and the more money they make...

Glad you okay..
I was tuning CNBC for awhile, and the earthquake news was flashing. Wondering about it since the coverage wasn't big.

I've heard it in tv, but I was in a hurry to go to work. Glad your ok. In Italy we had in the recent past two big earthquake so we know the feeling
