You should definitely try again next year! Because guess what? Around 130 people tried out and only around 45 positions were actually available! x_x Just keep trying!

You should try out for the masquerade! They apparently have auditions for that, and I heard it's going to be the awesome :3

Nah, I'm a big believer in fate, so I'm taking this as a sign that I'm to be doing something else this June (ie going to China) I'll admit I was in a funk for the rest of the school day after reading the email (especially since Shea didn't get in either and he was probably the strongest guy to sign up) and then some rabid fangirl who hijacked my phone number on saturday called me like 4 times today and cost me money texting me. And I didn't get to enjoy the rain because I was stuck inside. But now I have to write a 500 word (I know paltry by your standards) profound essay on A Bend in the River. Haaaaaaaah, this week is looking to be less than pleasureable, but maybe its the kick in the pants I need to get back fighting (is it weird to ask the metrocon people how I was lacking so I know what to work on for the future)

Nope, it's not weird. Although I honestly don't think you're lacking because so many people didn't make it ;o; Even some of the seasoned Metrochessers didn't :x

Actually that surprises me. The reason I didn't try out last year was because I assumed that after 2 years of doing it, they had people that they already knew and would just reuse them. And China isnt a definite, but this is making give it more consideration (I realize I'll soon be a poor college student) And yeah, I'm using the ancient art of staying away from my phone until I can find some way to make her not fangirl over me (it doesn't help that I pretty much implanted an image of me as Ichigo in her mind at tryouts and that later that day I was telling the story to a girl who happened to be in her latin class and decided to leave a message that I had to later clarify as not being me and that only encouraged her) Hooray for ineptitude with girls!
