so like, there's going to be a massive divide in the fanfic for the show now - everything before this point with the whole king arthur knowing about the magic is JOSSED. I'm pretty surprised even though I knew it was coming for at least a couple weeks!

UGH. The Merlin Arthur knows and calls "friend" is SO DIFFERENT from who Merlin actually is, but at the same time he's who Merlin wishes he could be and who he could have been without all the SHIT that's gone down? OH GOD I AM SO EMOTIONAL ASDFHAKSJFHKSDJFH

But then also all the stuff that was silly was SO GOOD. ARTHUR & DRAGOON BROTP??? The fucking piggy back ride! And Dragoon's giant squinty happy oldman grinface when Arthur promised to make magic legal? LIKE SUNSHINE GLOWING FROM HIS WRINKLES. And I knew it wasn't gonna work, it was obvious everything was gonna go to shit but OH ARTHUR. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN!

The only possible path at the MOMENT is some SERIOUS fucking tragedy - Arthur has to go one some HARDCORE spirit quest journey shit to unlearn the magic bigotry. T____T Do you have some kind of, like, tidy rationalization kicking around in your brain that might make me feel a wee bit better? This may be one ep I need to rewatch several times, with appropriate sustenance, to fully deal with. But overall THIS EP HAD EVERYTHING WONDERFUL AND TERRIBLE IN IT EVER EXCEPT FOR KNIGHT-NANIGANS.

So thank ef it looks like there will be some next week, as I want to crawl back into a happy all-lads-together adventure place. Oh. But. Merlin will be there being torn apart and hopeless about ever having his destiny know and value him for who he truly is and yesyes he's a true friend, which is more than a manservant, but he could have been so much mooooooar (and yes the HOPE in the geezer's face when there were all vow-making had now gone all crushedy-bye-bye and... and...)

I'm afraid to rewatch it. When I watched it earlier I was pausing like every five minutes to type in my tumblr post. WHAT WILL I DO IF I WATCH IT STRAIGHT THROUGH??? I need company. like-minded company. CAN WE SKYPE AND REWATCH? *wibbles*

What I'm most curious about next week is how they're going to handwave the whole Arthur is freaking KING now. woah. still not over that. KIIIIING-uh. @_@

But my point is, he can't just go gallivanting about anymore! I suppose that is why they invented Uncle ScarAgravaine, to keep an evil eye on the NPCs while Arthur gallops off to do sexy things in the woods with his hot diverse boysquad. But Agravaine is EVOLS which means, y'know, that's gonna backfire, at least eventually
