I'm about to pop up the next chapter, so your long wait is over! LOL. Sorry about that, though - I've had work and sailing stuff and more work and home stuff and more work....*unhappy sigh*. We even racked up four - yes, FOUR - SPN episodes that we hadn't had a chance to watch, so we had a marathon viewing last night and are all caught up in time for the season 9 finale.
OMG, Dean.....*chews nails nervously* And Sammy!! *chews nails even more nervously*
Anyway, now that I have bloody stumps for fingers, I'll try to post the next chapter.

But what I loved most was the Aussie slang. Being an Aussie myself, it was great to read and understand, esp loved how your narrator knew that 'stone the crows' would be way too complicated to explain.

It was nice, too, to be able to use my own language, and not have to sit and mentally translate our terms into American, like bitumen to asphalt, boot to trunk, footpath to sidewalk, etc.
The 'stone the crows' bit was actually a nod to the first Crocodile Dundee movie. It had that phrase in it in the first release, but was edited for American movie-goers as being too hard to explain. So it was a great opportunity to have Kayla, my OC and narrator, throw that in there.
Remind me after the last chapter, and I'll give you the clues that I dotted through the fic, to see how many you spotted.

Oh, was it really? Wow...I never knew that.
As I said in my author's notes, this one blew me above the horizon point so I was no longer flying happily under the radar. And it won three awards in the same year on three separate fan sites. I couldn't believe it when I got the message from Sensue about the People's Choice awards.
My little circle was monitoring the voting daily to see what was happening. I almost couldn't bear to look, so auntie Chris was keeping me updated - lol.

Thank you for posting it here. Roll on chapter 2.

Aww, thank you so much! I still can't believe the interest this garners. I honestly thought I had a flop on my hands, and almost archived the thing instead of sending it to Sarah to beta.
But I trust her judgement, and trusted that she would have told me if it didn't work, so I sent it. And was amazed at her fast reply begging me for another chapter!
Second chapter going up very, very soon. Hope the magic still continues for you.

The next serving is coming up. It's been a very busy couple of weeks, but it's a quiet Saturday night down here in Oz, and I've finally caught up on the last four SPN episodes, just in time for the finale, so I can finally sit down at the computer for something other than work!
