a TBRS year

I think I’m declaring 2014 as a To-Be-Read-Shelf year. I can read or re-read anything I own, but no buying new books until I’ve cleared out most of what I’ve collected. (EasterCon and World Fantasy added an awful lot to the TBR shelf.) Possibly I’ll go so far as to go around and make a list of what’s *on* the shelf, to keep a sort of focused order ( Read more... )

I miiiiiiiiiight be interested in doing the GGK read-along with you. I love(d?) the Fionavar Tapestry when I discovered it, but I seem to recall being less impressed by some of his other novels. I also don't have a lot of reading time, so I'm not entirely sure if I can keep up.

But maybe this would be a good excuse to read some I haven't, and, hey, long distance read-alongs are fun!

I haven't loved all of his books either, but the ones I *do* love, I love beyond reason. There are several I've never re-read, and of those, I truly loved the Sarantium books. This is as much an excuse to re-read them as anything else, but also his 12th book came out last year (jesus christ, i've got 2x as many books out as he does :p) so there's a handy book a month right now.

Realistically I'm likely to read the Fionavar Tapestry all in one go, and then noodle around and not read the next until April, so there'll be time to catch/keep up, if you want to join in!

A TBRS year is an excellent idea. Since I'm putting around waiting for the story to shift in my head, I might as well start culling the NYR off the shelves and see what I've got...

I look forward to your list! Perhaps we should both post lists and if we can swing it, read any pairs at the same time!

you are a much stronger person than me, but I did make the rule that I cant buy the next book in a series if I havent read book 1 yet...

I couldn't manage a "no new books" rule, but I might think it a fair compromise to allow myself one new book for every two books read...
