morning comes so *early*

Actually, morning keeps not coming as early as it should. I keep waking right up at 6 or 6:30 and for some reason I'm not getting out of bed. It's warm, it's snuggly, I'll just lie here a few more minutes, that sort of typical thing. And then it's 7:30. Hrmph. Must do better than that if I'm planning a marathon writefest over the last two weeks ( Read more... )

You must go visit the Irish National Stud! They're mainly a racing Thoroughbred breeding facility so there's not as much equine variety as, say, the Kentucky Horse Park, but it's still extremely cool. And the gardens and historical areas simply beg to be seen. And, if you feel like making it an extended trip, go to Annaharvey Farm, a B&B / riding vacation facility. I went there with some friends several years back; I had a grand ol' time doing some jumping and cross-country (ride pell-mell beside a hay field and jump over large obstacles). Two of the people in our group wanted a more tame riding experience, so they got a couple ring-lessons (ride safely in an enclosed arena, maybe go over a couple low jumps if you're up to it). Wonderful people, outstanding food, and very nice horses -- Irish Sporthorses, small and stocky to my eyes. (I'm used to tall & lanky Thoroughbreds, or small and sleek Arabs.)

If you want to get up earlier, give the cats less food in the evening!

*laugh* We don't give them food in the evening at all! Usually they only start meowing when they hear us moving around. :)
