First I had the Adventures in Airline Tickets, which I will not go into except to say I’ll be making an early-season batch of fudge to send off to people who, while admittedly doing nothing more than their job, did it with grace and humour and helped me immesurably.

Next I got safely into Fargo, where the con-runner (Tony) awaited me along with ( Read more... )

ADF is, in a word, fucking delightful. I may someday forgive him for the great white shark incident.

Glad you had fun!

For the record, I was the one who told Chase I needed a picture of her doing the Ferengi ear-fondle, but she didn't hesitate even a micro-second.

I also hadn't realized that Alan was the one who suggested the tour, but boy, I'm glad he did!

And, in a total small-world thing, I stopped off for take-out on my way home last night and ran into a couple of friends. I told them about this weekend and Ben's work, and when I mentioned de-extinction and his TED talk, their 10-year-old son piped up that he'd seen Ben's talk and could succinctly explain the idea of de-extinction and where they were getting the DNA. Blew my mind, it did.

I was hoping to come to the con and surprise you, but even though it was very close to me, compared to how far you had to travel, it was too far to manage on current finances. But at least you know I was plotting on your behalf!

(I probably would have given you some warning, actually -- some things are better if they are not surprises.)

I would have fallen right out of my chair! *laughs* For what it's worth, that kind of surprise is just fine for me--I don't mind surprises, although it's extremely possible I'd have been reduced to incoherence... :)
