jumping around

In the last several books I’ve written, I’ve noticed a tendency that as I approach the end, I leap ahead, write the end, then come back and fill bits in.

I have been doing that for this whole bloody book.

Now, I know people who work this way as a matter of course, but I don’t, and I don’t like it, and seriously, what’s that all about anyway?

At least you're not jumping back into the previous 9 books to add bits to them as you go along!

Although at a 40K/week pace you could rewrite the whole series in 6 months!
Or the first book or two in an Epic Fantasy Trilogy.

You have your new laptop set to backup regularly, right? Offsite? Coffee and gravity can be cruel.

Dropbox is my friend, yes.

And Ted and I were discussing that, how long I could keep this up if I left every morning to go write as an 8-5 job. Unfortunately, we figured we'd need about fifty grand in the bank to give it a year-long test run and find out, and I haven't figured out how to run a Kickstarter and make a reward of "there will be SO MANY BOOKS to send to publishers when this year is over!" palatable. :)

Sounds likely in terms of reasons and sounds like you in terms of reasonable standards.

Looking forward to the book now! Re reading some in reverse order, it's a little confusing but somewhat entertaining to read them that way round. (They are lots entertaining in their own right)

If you look in the dictionary, there is definitely not a picture of you next to "reasonable standards".
