There are a variety of reasons why the opening chapters of SHAMAN RISES have been difficult to write.

One is that I knew when I sent them off to my editor as part of the proposal that I hadn’t really gotten them right yet. I had to fix them (which was made more difficult by the 3rd reason cited below) Another is that due to Life, I have gotten ( Read more... )

My last couple of books started off so slowly, I almost gave up on them (not an option in your case, obviously). Each time, thank the gods, I hit a point where it all started flowing and then I almost caught up. Hopefully you've hit that time now!

And look on the bright side...in the bad old days, you would have been working on a physical copy you had to type out by hand, and the silver sharpie would have been a disaster of epic proportions!

This probably won't be at all helpful, but ... try writing the chapters that lead up to the fight, get the flow all working right, then either drop them or move them out of order to put the fight first.

As it happens, the chapters leading up to the fight are written! They're called NO DOMINION and MOUNTAIN ECHOES. :)
