It is Ted’s birthday. In celebration, I’m, er, well, working, mostly. But in-the-kitchen-work, ie, copy edits at the table, while I bake him a birthday cake. This makes me very happy. :)

Ridiculous cat!

Ivan, our big wooly mammoth of a cat, likes the cutting board after you chop onions on it. He doesn't want more than 1 lick (which is good because onions are bad for them) but he wants to sniff it and sniff it and sniff it and will come and do a little hop-jump-headbutt thing when you're chopping onions to remind you that he's there and that he clearly deserves a sniff of the cutting board.

Cats are so very odd.

I have a cat who suddenly started doing something similar. She's the pickiest cat I know, but about six months ago she started professing a great interest in sherbet - to the point where she attempted to climb into the bowl. I'll occasionally find her sitting in front of our freezer, staring up at it longingly, and I just know she's plotting on how she can get into The Source.

Cats sure are funny creatures.
