whinging, as warned, about no sweets

Today I have had the thought, “I could make a batch of cookies and just eat two!” more than once.

Then I have faced reality. It’s possible I might just eat two today. I might be able to be that good. And I might say I’ll just eat two tomorrow. However, tomorrow-and let’s assume I’m really being good-I will *actually* have two for dessert after ( Read more... )

I feel your pain.

I gave up eating sweets once, to accompany Shannon on a carb-free diet. On day five I had a wailing, weeping fit, curled up in a ball on the floor. Shannon has decreed that I may moderate my sweet intake, but may not -- ever -- eliminate it again.

I hate it sometimes when the decisions you know you need to make actually are the decisions you need to make.

But congrats on the weight loss. At least you have that silver lining for having to put with the suckiness of not having cookies.

Have you considered making cookies, eating two, and sending the rest to kind friends?

You could make dough, form it into a log, slice off enough for two and bake them and put the rest in the freezer. Then, if you wanted cookies, you'd have to preheat the oven, slice off dough, and bake before you could eat them and that might be enough time to go 'enh. Too lazy'! :)

er, or nevermind. I should've read further before replying. :)

A sweet tooth is a terrible thing, sometimes. I feel your pain, and I had to laugh out loud when I read "The real scenario is that I’d eat fifteen cookies tomorrow." Because, yes, absolutely! And those two cookies today? For me, sure, two cookies would be no problem...if you didn't count the two or three cookies worth of dough I snuck while making them.

In my family, our sweet tooths (sweet teeth?) are well documented. My grandmother loves to tell the story of how her father-in-law used to walk over from his farm to theirs to see them when their first daughter was a baby. He would cuddle and hold the baby, and feed her spoonfuls of sugar to "make her sweeter".

My grandfather always keeps a well stocked candy dish around. My Mom, my sister and I all have terrible cravings for sweets. My husband, on the other hand, could totally go sweet-free and never even think twice about it. He also has a kick ass metabolism, whereas I gain weight if I so much as look at a chocolate bar.

It just isn't fair. :(

Right. I fear that I'm in the same boat, or am about to be. Namely, I can control what I have for breakfast and lunch, but if I'm hungry when I get home I'll just have a bigger dinner. And, you know, after a few days of salad the soup place across the street will look reaaaally good. (I've come up with a counter to that - I can downstairs and make a *real* salad, with meat and cheese and stuff on it.) Still, that doesn't mean that I won't go home and have a pizza.
