After three months of not getting a new cooker (at least six weeks of which was my fault, I'll cop to that), we now have one! Yesterday we had a random inspection (which they did not warn us about, although they said they sent a letter. We didn't get one. I may not let them in next time, on general principles, if we do not receive advanced ( Read more... )

Thanks for the link to Zoë Conway's site. As it happens, I've got a last-minute trip just scheduled to Dublin, and assuming I can get away from the office at a reasonable hour, I will probably see if I can get into Whelans for her show.

Well, if tonight's "Doors 9pm" experience is any indication, "Doors 8pm" means you've got at least 45 minutes to get there before the show starts. I hope you make it, and I hope the production isn't as appalling as it was here in Cork tonight. (To be clear, it wasn't Zoë at all who was bad, and I have a quite glowing review of the last gig I saw her at here, so don't take my bitching about tonight as a reason not to see her. :)

Could you tell me about your "miles to" portion? i've heard of people setting goals to boookish places before, but could you share with me where you got the distance information?

*laughs* As I put in the mileage today I was thinking it was just about time somebody else asked me about that. Nicely done. :)

I'm doing the Eowyn Challenge, which began as a walk to Rivendell from Hobbiton several years ago, but people've mapped out, oh, all there rest of the distances, too. I've been doing this since April 2003 and have walked a total of...2655 miles! Ooh, and it's only a bit less than 60 miles to Minas Tirith now. Awesome, I thought it was further. :)

Hope that helps!

"Yer man said he'd be there in ten minutes, and it only took him thirty-five to arrive, which, for the Irish, is extremely like being early."

Oh excellent on the cooker. I was wondering you didn't show up for writing today. Getting a new cooker is a good reason for being absent. Hope to see you tomorrow.

I hope to be seen today, but I have no idea if I will be. I did get some work done yesterday, though. That's something. :)
