Up: one of the guys at the OxFam shop turns out to be a real comic book geek. We had a good time talking today. There were 7 of us on, and about, oh, 7 customers all morning. I also brought the same guy a copy of COYOTE DREAMS, and another guy who's new in today was Terribly Impressed to meet a Real Writer. I've never met anybody as impressed

Woah! Landlords (and ladies too to be fair) seriously suck. Good luck on the hunt! That is the problem with renting in Ireland, tenants functionally have no rights at all. Have you thought more about buying a place? Although now might not be the best time if the market is going to tank as seems likely. Soon first time buyers will be a gold dust commodity in a stalled market (except possibly in Dublin where it is still crazy I gather. :(

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a good time to buy, and even if it did, we don't have much of a nest egg built up. I don't particularly mind renting for a few more years, but I do wish she'd stuck with the 'put the house on the market when the lease is up' bit. Oh well. Maybe we'll get insanely lucky and they'll give us the knockout place for cheaper. :)
