Sugar Wars: 3 weeks in

Tonight marks three weeks of this sugar wars bullshit and I feel that it’s all bullshit and pointless and annoying and why should I be doing this and screw it all anyway.

Despite that, I had oatmeal and tea for my evening snack instead of cookies and milk, so apparently I haven’t actually given up on myself. Tomorrow (or Tuesday, or possibly ( Read more... )

Huh. I like the idea of pre-filling a food log. It's kind of like Having a Meal Plan, which is never a bad idea. I'm just not terribly good at following one.

I need to talk with my trainer about food. I'm doing better with more calories (meaning that I'm not consistently bonking at the end of the day), especially if lunch/third breakfast is a large meal. (She says the biggest meal of the day should be breakfast, but that doesn't go so well with morning yoga.) I need to find alternatives to all the frelling meal items that call for nut butters, though--I can do some here and there, but I'm just not into the overwhelming taste or texture--and I'd like to find more Greg-friendly meals, since it's much easier to have him cook, but he's reluctant to do it if he can't eat it (which is understandable).

Kind bars are wonderful, though. Lots of protein, healthy fat, and just enough sweetness to satisfy me.

I've started putting dried currants into my oatmeal. I find the taste of 'em encourages me to finish the bowl, rather than leaving it half-eaten and regretting it later when I'm hungry...

I would do more than cry for that soup... sigh..

You are doing good staying off the sugar dragon. You have more determination than I do. (they putting out the Easter Candy already, and the massive amounts of different flavored Peeps are like the shock troops of sugar)

I have finally joined the Sugar Wars, with the start of Lent.
There are no biscuits cake sweets chocolate left in the house. There are things like jam and honey and maple syrup but I'm not going to bother with those by themselves.

I like frozen blueberries and/or raspberries in my porridge - they hold their shape better than fresh, and freezing adds sweetness. I like raisins too, but they're not so free-to-eat as fresh/frozen fruit is on my particular plan.

Thumbs up to potato and leek soup, too - I made a vat on Sunday and it's perfect in this weather.
