Indy and I had a splendid day today.

We stopped at the local Pokemon gym and claimed it on the way home from school, and walked enough candies to evolve our Abra into a Kadabra, which was pretty darn exciting. He did his chores and homework cooperatively, and we went through ALL our Pokemon and found our Grimer only needed ONE CANDY to evolve. So ( Read more... )

Wait, he's what, how old? And he gets homework already? (Kindly point out to his school that I had no homework of any kind before secondary school at age eleven, and I turned out smarter than your average weasel.)

They start giving homework here immediately, on the logic that it'll develop the habit early and they'll be good at it/used to it/less complainy/more compliant/in the habit by the time they're old enough to need to do "real" homework.

Judging from my 12 and 14 year old nephews, this is a total failure as a strategy.

That sounds like a fun day. And I now know about the buddy system (which the Pokemon app does not tell you about), and have set a Magicarp to be my buddy, because dammit, 340 candy, 60 to go, and that's with me living on a canal feeder and getting some of the little blighters at home.

Yesterday, I saw my first Snorlax. Managed to catch him briefly, before he vanished, and I just needed to share this with someone who understands.

You are at least the second person who has learned about the buddy system from me! I'm surprised by this!

We caught a Snorlax on like the second day of the game, so for a while I had no idea they were so rare. I hope you catch yours again!
