Picoreview: Ghostbusters: Honestly I thought it was pretty bad. By about 2/3rds of the way through I was wishing I’d gone to see Jason Bourne. I mean, there were a few laughs and stuff, but I wasn’t enthralled by Holtzmann, which, after the buildup I expected to be, and just…yeah. I mean, it was okay, but mostly meh.

I didn't love it either. Patty was my favorite!

I didn't love it, either, and felt defective for thinking that. There was just too much I wanted to re-work: I wanted to flip Leslie Jones and Melissa McCarthy in their roles. I agree with you that Akroyd and Murray's cameos were forced--Hudson and Weaver's felt more natural as the mentors (but having all four of them do that would've been trite, so I'm not sure how to have fixed that. Maybe put Murray in Charles Dance's role?)

But, yeaaaaaah. Possessed Hemsworth nearly walked away with the movie for me. He was just so flipping fun, in ways the ladies were not (except Holtzmann).

I enjoyed the Chris Hemsworth dance movie, but Kate was unimpressed. "Pretty white guy" was her description of his dancing (pretty as in very, not attractive). Kids these days are hard to impress.

That said, all three kids liked it better than the first one which we just showed then a week before going to see the reboot. They winced a lot at the first one ("Wow, that was an actual scene that they put in an actual movie?").
