Writing Wednesday: Price Points

I’ve released two books back to back so far this year, MAGIC & MANNERS in March, followed by ATLANTIS FALLEN in April.

As an experiment, I priced ATLANTIS FALLEN $2 cheaper than M&M, to see if the number of sales at the lower price point made up for or (hopefully) outstripped the profit I make off the higher purchase price of MAGIC & MANNERS.

I guess for me, CE Murphy is the brand, since I bought MAGIC AND MANNERS, which is well outside of my normal reading zone. (And ironically, liked it a lot better than ATLANTIS FALLEN, which is in my zone. Go figure.)

I can't buy anything right now, but at least with books released by the author, you know they'll still be there when you can buy them.

That is definitely the case for me, but that is probably due to a much narrower field of Extenuating Circumstances than most of your reader base, I would imagine.

I have to admit, despite being very excited to read it, I'm waiting for the print copy of Atlantis fallen because I hate reading on my kindle unless it's absolutely necessary...that may actually affect your numbers as well since M&M had a dual release.
