American Thanksgiving

We have successfully had American Thanksgiving here, with more than 30 people descending to eat vast amounts of food. This is at least our 6th Big Thanksgiving, and this year we got everything on the table at the same time and with an absolute minimum of difficulties. We’ve become a well-oiled machine! I don't get to do Thanksgiving anymore (family too far away now) but I do throw a formal Yule dinner for my circle, and our various friends and family. We range from about 10-16, always a stretch in my small house, but it is pot-luck, which helps.

It is my favorite night of the year, but there are always people I never end up talking to...

I scandalized the British Boyfriend last year when I made candied yams with marshmallows on top to take to our Thanksgiving celebration. (Then I showed him green bean casserole just to complete his traumatization.)

But we went to a Turkey Trot yesterday, and it only took him a few seconds to realize that those things on people's headbands were supposed to be turkey legs XD I think he's starting to adjust.

He says if we move to the UK (looking very possible), I should host an American Thanksgiving. But heck, I've never hosted one in the US! :P
