This year has just…gone. Poof. Fweh. Zoom. I honestly don’t feel like I’ve ever fully recovered from moving. Possibly because the last dozen or whatever boxes still aren’t dealt with. I just need another bookshelf, at this point, and I don’t have one. #sigh Anyway.

I have so many things to do. My daily Thinks To Do List looks like this, every day ( Read more... )

surrender the manuscript, writing, haus, nanowrimo, housecleaning

That's actually exactly what I started toonowrimo for in the first place, thousands of years ago. :)

If your laptop dies, there are many better ways to fix/replace it than the normal methods.

I don't know about shipping to Ireland, but in the US, CDW, Dell, and Amazon all have "warehouse" specials that are a mix of refurbs, ordered-but-not-delivered, and clearance models that are great for everything except gaming laptops. You can usually save 20% to 50% off the cost of "new".

Shipping to Ireland from the US incurs a 23% tax on that sort of item, so that might not be very useful. That said, I have no idea at all how I would go about trying to find that kind of thing *within* Ireland, but if I can figure it out I'll try looking at that, because that would be better! :)

Or, y'know, I suppose you could try shipping it to one of your American friends and have them send it to you.

(Or would they still wind up taxing it?)

There's a chance it'll come through without being inspected, sure, if a person lies about the contents, but the weight might make them look anyway, who knows :)

I'm revising/clearing the decks for NaNoRevMo, but will hopefully be able to put the accountability check-in to good use...

(and I am SO with you there re: new tech. I'm hoping replacing the hard drive with a new SSD will give me another year, but I've been hesitating switching it out because what it that is what kills it dead?

I'm not doing formal NaNo this year either, but I have to write about 50K on the current WIP by the end of the month if possible, so I'm going to be doing an unofficial one. (The book is due December 1 and is at 36K. I'm going to be late for the first time ever, but I'm aiming at "not as horribly late as it looked like I was going to be." Gah.)

Do you have a reliable local geek place that fixes computers? My local one also sells on refurbed machines that they guarantee. I just got an almost-new Lenovo ultrabook for way less than I would have paid new. (Mind you, I'm still typing on the old laptop because...well, because.)

Ted found my coloring books! I’m going to try to spend half an hour every evening coloring, too, because they say it’s practically like meditation and that’d be good for me. @.@ And…yeah. Just a lot is happening.

Woot!

I bought some nice shiny new pencils for the one I fell into...and then haven't done anything with it yet. Maybe I ought to follow your example and carve a half hour out every night to do it, like, right before bed or something.

Ohm.
