I spent a chunk of time last night turning almost all of the basil plants into pesto. It took hours and I only got two large jars and one half a jar. In the middle of the winter, when I thaw it out and it tastes like summer, it will be worth it.

Did I say this here already? I have a cold and I'm really tired, so I can't remember.

Also, have you tried combining the crab apples, the apples, and the berries into one jam. I believe it will rock.

The only jelly I ever made was from crabapples picked from our own tree. The jelly didn't quite gel enough, but it was fun to make and the result was tasty.

Baking with fresh apples is a secret undiscovered in much of the English-speaking world, and as you say, "it might get you out of a prison sentence" if sneaked to the judge before sentencing.
