Writing Wednesday: Elevator Pitches

A fellow writer over on Twitter was asking for example elevator pitches to show to some of her friends as examples, and since I’ve got, oh, eight or seventeen of them that I’ve been using for years, I threw several of them at her.

I have never, ever been an elevator-pitch person; I come - as you know - from a slower and more contemplative time.

On the other hand, for the last couple of years whenever anyone asked me what I was working on I have said "Kipling on Mars." And they go ooh. Does that make it the shortest elevator pitch in creation, or can the thing be done in fewer than three words?

I think "Kipling on Mars" is probably the best possible elevator pitch!
