an NPR pop culture blogger said something the other day about a show that had potential but wasn't working for her that given the sheer quantity of good stuff out there, it wasn't worth her time waiting for the show to live up to its potential. That really resonated for me -- there's so much stuff that I actively want to watch (and read) that there's not much point in wasting energy on stuff that I want to like but don't. For me, with all the Netflix stuff, with The Flash (which I like a lot so far), Arrow (despite adamantly not 'shipping Ollie/Felicity), Sleepy Hollow; I find it hard to justify spending the time/effort on Agents of SHIELD or Forever or.....we sf/fantasy/comic book nerds are spoilt for choices.... :)

I totally ship Ollie/Felicity, but I'm highly exasperated with Ollie's Bad Choices and I kind of want Felicity to say "You're both assholes" and take over Queen Industries herself. :) OTOH the thing that happened at the end of s3e1 was something I expected ALL THE WAY through s2 and so was totally NOT expecting it there, so I'm likely to hang around for the repercussions...

SHIELD is just kind of boring me. As somebody on Twitter said "Gosh, and here I was afraid there wouldn't be any Stubbly White Guy Angst on this season of SHIELD." That, and we already have May, we don't need Skye to be her, and Coulson is no fun as Director. I will, however, keep watching it because I love Tripp and, um. Mack. The Mechanic, as Ted has named him.

Gotham actually won a reprieve last week because it appears Barbara isn't going to suffer from The Lana Syndrome, and that's just enough rope to keep me dangling for another few weeks.

I adore both characters individually, and it's nice to see Ollie smile more. However, I liked her better when she wasn't all moony over him and was willing to give him heck. Plus with her now being a romantic affiliation, almost every named female who isn't Ollie's family (Dinah falls into family at this point) is either someone he's slept with or is a prop for another character. Nyssa is essentially a prop for Sarah and Lyla is a prop for Diggle. Maggie Q's character didn't seem to actually have a name. Amanda hasn't yet been shown to sleep with him, but I'm willing to bet two blue m&ms that they will be shown to have done so in a flashback this season....

And yes, that's my main problem with SHIELD too -- as Bad Willow would've said, "Bored Now."

Haven't given Gotham a whirl -- I have three broadcast shows, and that's as much as I can track mentally, and I'm just over the city of Gotham and Dark Knight origin stories, as a general rule. Although I did just get sucked into the Gail Simone BatGirl comics.

I probably will forgive you eventually. You know, after you do something HUGE to make it up to me.

In your copious free time...

ARROW better bring back the workout sequences if they want my wife to keep watching, is all I'm saying.

This fall I'm watching more TV than I have in years, since I turned off cable. Yeah, THE FLASH is nicely done and very appealing, even after only two episodes, but I'm also enjoying GOTHAM, AGENTS OF SHIELD, and the revamped PERSON OF INTEREST. My wife likes FOREVER, although I think she'd stop watching if I pointed that out.

Looking forward to CONSTANTINE.

Did you hear they're planning a movie for THE FLASH, and they've cast a different actor for Barry Allen? How's that for a vote of confidence?
