I’ve been kind of interested in re-reading SONG, because I’ve only read it once and it didn’t, er, sing to me, as it were. It’s the one GGK book I’ve never had any particular interest *in* ( Read more... )

One of the problems, I think, is that it has a hanging character. I can't remember her name at this point -- it's years since I read it. But there's a young woman who we follow through the book who does very little except observe and has no plot resolution. It also read very fake mediaeval to me, but GGK doesn't work for me as I see the bones too easily and don't find he does enough to make his version special.
