Insomnia strikes again, so I give you Family adventures at the movies!

I took the kids to see Charlie and Chocolate Factory last night. First off, I should mention that CaCF was one of my favorite books as a child, and I’ve always been rather fond of the previous film version. So I was really looking forward to seeing the remake and I thought it ( Read more... )

LOL!

Did you go to River East? I never liked Dahl's books, I always found them a bit too dark for me as a child. And the original movie of version of this...*was freaked out and traumatized* So I sympathize with your daughter.

There is hope yet for your daughter with HP. One of my cousins claimed she hated HP and would have nothing to do with the books until she turned 10. Then she couldn't stay away from them.

Yes, we went to River East. See, I always loved Dahl's books and we have a video of James and the Giant Peach that Tim Burton produced and they were fine with that. But, I was just talking to a co-worker who said he wouldn't go on a Chicago river cruise when he was a child because he had just seen the Gene Wilder film and was frightened by the whirlpools.

I never responded to you email on Friday. Lunch tommorow would work for me.

They read James and the Giant Peach to us in school as well as one about Danny something or another. All I remember from that one is him going hunting for pheasants on someone else's land.

What time and where should I meet you?

You are not working this week, correct? Have you been to the Nordstrom Cafe? (on the top floor, not the food court) They have good food, salads and pastas, etc. If we go there we should meet before 12:00-- 11:30 or 11:45.

:D Your kids are adorable.

I wasn't sure about watching this movie (I liked the other one, too), but I suppose I should give it a chance. Sounds like fun, and I've been taught to appreciate Johnny Depp.

Hee! Thanks.

Like I said, Gene Wilder owns this role. Johnny was good, but I still like Wilder's Willie Wonka better. I did see the original on TV a month ago and was surprised at how low-budget it looked. The remake has top-flight production values and is closer to the plot of the book.
