I'm with you on most of your predictions. When we first got that tidbit of a description form JKR, I'd assumed it was a pensive memory of Godric or something like that.
The only thing I'm really afraid of is Remus biting it, though he's too useful and interesting of a character to kill off at this point. Maybe book 7.
Sadly, I'm confident that you're right about the Hermione/Ron relationship to get it's start in this next book, something to push Harry out of the trio's safety.
I haven't really spent the time thinking out how the various rooms in the Department of Mysteries work, but Dumbledore mentioned something about love being necessary to defeat Dumbledore. I think Luna is necessary for all this to work somehow.
I really don't think Remus is going to die. Like I said, it's just too cruel. Harry would be bereft of anyone close to his parents or a father figure, which hope Remus will take over from Sirius.
Not a R/Hr fan? I think it will happen but not be a huge shippy deal. I hope at least. I think R/Hr dating will be used to inject some lightness into the books and to take Harry out of the trio safety zone.
