I'm trying not to panic about the suspensions of pornish_pixies and other communities, but I'm pausing to mourn all the fic and art that's going to be lost if those communities don't come back ( Read more... )

sad face, wtf?, fandom, strikethrough07

d_d is simply deleted by a mod as a quick lockdown... but pornish has been suspended by the LJ abuse team. *feels nervous* Suddenly I am really happy I kept removing stuff this weekend.

I saw that about DD. I edited my post.

I have back-up word docs. of all my fics, if the worst happens, but I'm more worred about the future state of fandom on LJ right now.

Yeah, I have backups of all my fics too, but... I hope this is a one-time sweep only, and that they are actually looking for REAL predators, not fics. Because then, this will blow over, comms will start in another shape... Even if the old posts with attached feedback are gone.

What really upsets me about the loss of PP is the fics written by people who have left fandom. Some people are just gone, like switchknife, I don't even know if some of those fics are backed up elsewhere.

Um... maybe that rumor wasn't just a rumor. OR someone used the rumor to their own benefits.

Other comms are gone too... hp_incest, sbrb_blackcest, shota & wonkaslash

It looks like some people are deleting comms pre-emptively, but eek! if this gets worse. What about smutmas and all the other fic exchange comms? It looks like anyplace that has incest or underage fics are at risk.

hp_inc*st was deleted by me when the so-called rumour started just before the weekend, as a precaution. Now I'm glad I didn't undelete it when the rumour was revealed to be a 'hoax'. I feel just as paranoid again now.

Yeah. I just say that it was deleted, not suspended. Good thinking.

... wtf, lj. ::confused::

Yanno, it isn't the first time I've said this, and I know it won't be the last, but: Dear LJ, read it, learn it, do it, pls.

I don't know what to think. I'm frankly surprised, especially when people from LJ abuse were saying last week's rumors were untrue.

Word.

I saw a link today that talked about a watchdog site that was attempting to strong arm LJ into deleting/banning a lot of users/communities, but lemmetellyou, I'll be sad if that's what is going on. And wait with baited breath for the first person to say, "1984!" ::grin::

Personally, I blame fanlib! ::sagenod::

Oh hey, it's the same link as in your edit. :P

WTF.

i think this is a call to archive everything asap. i already backed up my lj, but i think that maintainers of comms might want to look into this as well.

you back up your LJ? How's this junkii?

I put some of my writing in lock down, but not my older HD. They are 16/17 in it, equal in age and not out having nasty snarly sex. People can deal. Plus, how would my remixer read it if I locked up shop? :)

My husband says to ask what religious affiliation they are connected with and whether or not they believe homosexuality to be a sin against god. *sigh*

yeah, i did. there's a software called ljarchive [which i'm sure you can find through google] that you install and it downloads your entire lj, comments and all, to your harddrive. not that i think i'm a target for deletion, but you can never know and i'd rather not lose fours years of posts.

i locked two of my fics as well, but i'm certainly not going to lock all my higher-rated fics.

grrrrr. i'd be very suprised if they didn't have some sort of religious motivation for this.

I can't seem to get lj archive software to open on my Mac, but I'll try later when I have a little more time to investigate.

There is something called LJ Book, which turns your lj into a pdf document that I've backed things up to in the past, but the server seems overloaded at the moment.

I'm not too worried about SL or hd100 being deleted, esp. since one of the other SL mods is on the lj abuse team, but having a back-up would be great just in case.
