awe, well I wasn't really expecting the US team to get much farther, getting past Italy was a big deal.

Ghana is supposed to have a really excellent team... I'm sure I'll hear the breakdown at work from the soccer expert

Well, the thing is the U.S should have done better than they did. Yes they were in a very difficult group, but they're ranked fourth in the FIFA world rankings, have some world-class players, but they are very green as far as playing in such a high-pressure environment. The next World Cup won't be in Europe which will help the Americans immensely, I think they utterly shell-shocked from all the hype.

Ghana deserved to go through even though they actually were the underdog team in the group. (the Czechs ranked #2, the US ranked 4 and Italy in the top 20). But Italy? eh. Obvously they got through on points, but they are a lazy and arrogant team, and frankly, their draw with the U.S. was exactly what I would have expected going into their match.

I actually wish both US and Ghana could have gotten through...Italy, I don't really care for. But Ghana had me rooting for them after the Czechs match so...I think about going to stop rubbing the salt into the wounds.

There's always the next World Cup. And seriously if population dense countries like USA and India et all, actually put some more focus on their teams, they'd really wipe the floor. Yet. *frustrated* Why do rugby and cricket get so much freakin' focus??? Argh.
