Books #17 & 18: Schooled & Unsinkable

I have the author Gordon Korman coming to speak at my school next month, so I've been trying to catch up on his huge repertoire in preparation. I enjoyed both of these and I see why the kids do as well.

Schooled is now my favorite of his. It's an interesting premise, and I appreciate the raw emotional honesty Korman uses in portraying the perils ( Read more... )

I'm so tickled that you find books to engage reluctant readers :-) I may be behind in my book count, but 'til the end of my days I will shout about how important reading is.

WOW, I can't believe you're getting Gordon Korman. That's incredible. He's been going for a long, long time, which of course is easier when you start at age 12 or something, but STILL, he was one of my favorites for many years. My vague impression (I stopped keeping up at some point) was that his latest work hasn't necessarily kept up, but I wonder now if I'm wrong?

I absolutely love his oldies about high school: Don't Care High and, especially, Son of Interflux. That last one is out of print, has been forever, but I have a copy and would be willing to lend to a fellow fan.
