76 Days76 more days to the end of my contract on 18th February, which is also the 3rd day of Chinese New Year. There hasn't been any news on whether I will be bringing my current tasks back to Singapore, thus today I brought it up to my director that I would like to go back before CNY if possible. Only then did he inform that there are plans for me ( Read more... )

Oh I like Afternoon Tea! I've been thinking about going for afternoon tea this Christmas time.

Hard to eat less when the food looks that delicious! And glad work is coming together and will be an easy transition for you going back home to prepare for the wedding! Those christmas lights were just beautiful, too! Especially the fairy lights in those little bushes! So adorable and festive! I completely agree with you about needing some cold weather to feel like Christmas! It’s been warm here so I don’t feel festive at all :( but it’ll cool down in the next couple of days, so hopefully then I’ll be more in the spirit!

I know! All the food is just so tempting.

Yea! I was a little disappointed in having to bring the work back because I was hoping to join another team, but in retrospect it actually works out better so I can spend more time preparing for the wedding. I hope things go the way the management plans, because our management is well known for last minute changes ;x

OMG! I would love a 10 year planner. It would save me so much space. But it looks like it wouldn't fit in the majority of my purses, and I take my planner everywhere.

What is it with marriage and quitting? My job here seems to be assuming that I'm going to quit once I get married as well. They haven't asked me. They've basically told me that they are going to miss me after I get married.

Ah it's kind of big, I guess you will need a bag or backpack to carry around.

I guess in Japan it's still quite common for women to quit their jobs to become full-time moms after marrying. It's difficult to change their ideas on it. My company is trying to push for and make it easier for our female employees to continue working after marriage and children, but it is still difficult because childcare centers/nurseries/baby-sitters are difficult to secure especially in Tokyo, so many women still end up quitting their jobs to take care of kids.

I get that it's common for Japanese women to do so, but part of me expects them to kind of already get it that in most foreign countries, women don't. I mean, they do enough shows abroad to kind of get that point, I'm sure. But yeah, it's unrealistic of me to assume Japan would kind of advance in that aspect. In my case, I think they aren't thinking so much about kids as much as that I'll finally have a spousal visa and I wont have to work just to stay.
Apparently in their eyes, a foreign chick with a spousal visa, definitely wont work.
