Thanks for the Amagasaki rail disaster's documentary link! I read about it briefly in the past but didn't really read into the details. The documentary was really detailed.. lol makes me think I should perhaps avoid sitting in the first car (but I like the first car of my usual train to work because it is an all-female train
( ... )
I know someone who never gets in the first or last cars of a train or subway, since those areas are most likely to suffer the worst in the event of an accident. Maybe this behavior can be denounced as overly cautious, but honestly taking such steps sounds reasonable to me. I also try to avoid those cars now
Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous! When I visit japan ina few years, I’m going to ha w to visit Kichijoji and Inokashira Park. The vendors and the trees! Just so amazing!
And the food always looks sooo good! Makes me hungry for Japanese food!
Sorry you got stuck on the train for an hour. That’s a horrible reason for a delay. Sometimes things just get so mainstream that people become numb to it. It’s sad but it happens everywhere :( hopefully at some point the government push for rails or something because those numbers are incredibly high :(
But it sounds like you had a good time at the park and visiting the mountains! Thanks for posting the pictures!
Thank you. Kichijiji and Inokashira Park are really beautiful -enough for me to pine for it and go back after 10 years!
I'm not sure the govt is pushing for the train companies to do anything - there is no law requiring the train companies to build barriers on the train platforms to stop people from falling/jumping off the platform. But more and more train companies are now starting to build barriers. (Cost-wise, many are reluctant to build barriers because it is cheaper to clean bodies than to build barriers, plus some people argue that suicidees will find ways to climb over the barrier or other ways to get on to the track.) Oh well..
I've heard of people being late because their trains didn't come due to a suicide, but being on a train that hit someone must be jarring. How sad. I am surprised by those numbers though. As safe, efficient, and convenient the train system in Japan seems, there seem to be many accidents...
