Announcement :
Okay, I need your attention here, my dear readers. My government decided to block some porn related sites on the internet, but they did it recklessly. Some friends reported that they couldn't get into LiveJournal at all, so it's a bit disturbing.
For precautions, I already locked all my NC-17 fics. It can be both temporarily or permanently. If you want to read them all, don't worry. Just add me and I'll add you back without questions.
I'm deeply sorry for this inconvenience. *bows*
Now please enjoy this story...

It had been raining heavily for the past three hours and there were no sign that it would stop anytime soon. The weather report said that there would also be some kind of storm. It was just 4 p.m in the afternoon but the sky was already dark and extremely cloudy.

Tora was pacing back and forth continuously for the last thirty minutes. He tried very hard to suppress his anger and so far, he managed it well. For example, the dark-haired man consciously avoided any breakable things in the apartment, because right now he really had this huge urge to just slam something to the wall. He came home earlier from his campus because he couldn’t find Ruki there, and the brunette’s cellphone was also turned off. Tora knew by heart that something had definitely happened to Ruki because his friend never missed his classes without letting the other to know the reasons. And by the time he opened the apartment door a couple of hours ago, he knew that his intuition was right. He was welcomed with the sight of a crying Ruki in the living room. Tora had called his sister and told her to come home as soon as he had Ruki crying on his lap. The brunette told them what happened at the Suzuki house but no matter how many times Tora cursed Suzuki Akira, Ruki stubbornly insisted that it wasn’t the older man’s fault. The siblings then tried to calm their friend down and eventually succeeded after Ruki collapsed on his bed due to exhaustion after crying for hours.

“Shinji, stop that.”

Tora stopped for a moment and threw a questioning look at his sister who was now occupying their couch in the living room.

“You’re making me nervous.”

The black-haired man kept looking at Yume, now with an obvious frown on his face.

“For God’s sake, Shinji. Sit down, please…” the young woman didn’t even have the power to yell anymore.

A heavy sigh escaped the black-haired man’s lips as he raised his hands in defeat. “Fine…”. Tora approached his younger sister and sat next to her. He rubbed his forehead in frustration. “I should’ve known, Yume…”.

The young lady straightened her back. Reaching out a hand to rub on Tora’s shoulder, she kissed her brother lovingly on the cheek. Her brother closed his eyes, feeling the anger within him subsided slowly.

“I should’ve known that that man would hurt Takanori’s feeling…” he whispered.

Yume squeezed on the taller man’s shoulder lightly. “You already heard him, brother. Confronting that novelist won’t solve anything.”.

“Yeah, but I-“

“I know that you love him, Shinji.” Yume cut her brother’s words firmly. “But for this one, let him deal with it alone…with his own way…”.

Tora felt like his heart was being squeezed by those words. There was only one person in this world who knew about his deepest feeling towards Ruki, and it was his sister. She was the only one who knew for sure that his brother loved Ruki more than just a brother. She knew that those feelings were already there inside his sibling for years. Even though it was ironic, but she silently admitted that Tora had done one difficult task in covering his feelings towards Ruki with a friendship mask.

“Just for this once, Shinji…” Yume added a light pressure on the strong shoulder.

A long shaky exhale was heard before Tora finally nodded in response. Looking at the door to Ruki’s room, he repeated her sister’s words like chanting a long lost melody.

“Just for this once…”

------------------------------------------------------

It was one cold evening when Reita started to type on his laptop. He was currently working on a short story for a monthly magazine that had signed a contract with him which would last until next year. It was a routine for the novelist, but it really kept him occupied by preventing some negative thoughts to come into his mind. Many people had questioned him about why he never wrote a novel anymore but no answer ever came out from him, and the blonde felt comfortable with it. Reita just reached his second paragraph when a soft knock interrupted him from his task.

“Akira, it’s me…”

The novelist knew who was standing right on the other side of the door at the moment. The familiar voice of his sister gave him enough information. He closed his work and gave permission as he spoke.

“It’s not locked, Naomi.”

A soft click was heard before the door finally swung open, revealing a beautiful woman in her mid thirties with long brown hair. She stepped inside the room as she watched her brother turned around and gave her a soft smile. The lady smiled back at him and sat on the couch a couple of feet away from her brother.

“Your room looks like a disaster.” Said Naomi nonchalantly, observing the room that was indeed messy. She shook her head in disbelief. “What happen to Takanori?”

Reita’s smile fell off his face at the mention of that name. He averted his gaze and pretending to look outside the window. “I sent him home, I already told you about that.”. It had been two weeks since the day he threw his assistant out of his room. It was true that his room was a complete disaster, but it had always been that way. But somewhere inside his heart he admitted that Ruki was actually a good assistant, considering the fact that the boy could rearrange his room in no time even though just for a couple of days.

“I don’t care about him, Nao-chan. Now it’s your turn. Spill it. What brings you here?” The novelist tried to change the subject, and apparently it worked just fine on his sister.

Naomi sighed heavily before she started to tell her brother about the meaning behind her rare visit. “Mom asked you to come tomorrow night, for dinner.”

Reita raised an eyebrow at the statement. “That’s it…?”

The brown-haired lady nodded in response. But when she looked at her brother, those fawn eyes told her that she was not a good liar, not in front of Reita.

“Well…,” Naomi continued her explanation hesitantly. “…actually Mom wants you to meet someone.”

The novelist groaned in annoyance. “Not again…”.

“Mmhmm…” Naomi hummed in approval. “I wonder why Mom and Dad are so desperate to get you a girl.”

There was a long moment of silence before Naomi finally stood up. “I have to go now. I have an appointment with a client, Aki.”

Reita looked at his sister and smirked, giving her firm hip a light tap. “A client…?”. The blonde made sure to stress the word ‘client’ a little.

Naomi gave her brother an annoyed look and rolled her beautiful eyes playfully. “Oh come on, Aki. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”

The novelist laughed and raised his hands in a fake defeat. “Alright, alright… A client, I get it!”

Naomi chuckled and ruffled Reita’s soft blonde hair, a habit she couldn’t forget even after years.  “Think about the invitation and call me when you’ve made your decision.”. She walked towards the door as her brother gave an answer.

“Will do…”.

The brown-haired woman was about to open the door when a soft knock was once again heard throughout the room. Naomi gave her brother a questioning look and got a shrug in reply. She reluctantly opened the door and raised her eyebrows when she found one of the maids was standing there holding a bouquet of white roses. She once again averted her gaze towards her brother and was quiet surprised to see that sad look on Reita’s face. After a moment of uncomfortable silence, Naomi nervously faked a cough and finally got a response as Reita now looked straight at her.

“Did I miss something?” she asked. The lady knew that her brother was obviously hiding something from her.

Reita shook his head. The man shifted uncomfortably on his wheelchair as if trying to just disappear from that room. “No…nothing, Naomi…”

Naomi sensed that the novelist felt uncomfortable in front of her, so she decided to just drop the conversation for now. She was sure that Reita would tell her if anything happened.

“Okay. I’m leaving now, Aki. Call me tomorrow…”

The novelist only hummed in response as his sister walked out of the room without questioning him even further. He knew that his sister wasn’t blind, and he appreciated the fact that Naomi didn’t force him to explain about this one. And once she disappeared from his sight, Reita exhaled heavily and closed his eyes.

The novelist’s eyes fluttered open as he gazed at the flowers. It was the thirteenth bouquet he received for the past two weeks. He didn’t even have to ask his maid who sent the bouquet because it was always him. The person who sent him bouquets all of this time was the one and only Matsumoto Takanori, his former personal assistant.

That day right after he sent Ruki home, he realized that he had been acting so rude towards the boy. He realized that there was no way in hell Ruki would know that his dried lilies were indeed important for him. It was actually a trash, even for him. The reason he threw Ruki out that day was because of his fear and insecurity. As time went by, the memories of Minako and Sairi were slowly fading away. And Reita didn’t want to lose those memories. That was why when he saw those lilies he got from his wife was thrown in the trash can, he felt like someone had tainted those memories in purpose. But then Ruki just did something that made even the coldest heart like Reita’s melt. He always sent those bouquets along with a small note. The only words that were written on those notes were always the same : “I’m sorry…”

Receiving those notes every single day actally made him realized. He never hated Ruki, though…

“If you excuse me sir, I have to finish the laundry.” The maid bowed politely. She was about to take a step forward when she heard her master spoke.

“What will you do to those flowers?”

The maid threw a questioning look but answered the question nonetheless. “Umm…downstairs, as usual, just like the previous bouquets…right?” She carefully asked the novelist. When he got a bouquet from Ruki for the very first time, Reita had told his maids to take those flowers away from him. Roses, orchids, lilies… Ruki had sent them all but Reita always threw them away. Those flowers were occupying the dining room at the moment.

Reita looked at those beautiful flowers on the maid’s hand for a moment before he shook his head. “No, I want to keep this one.”

The maid just shrugged and got inside the room. She put the flowers on the novelist’s lap before excused herself to do another job in the house.

Once he was left alone in the room, Reita took the flowers from his lap and examined them carefully. They were indeed beautiful. He didn’t know where the thought came from, but he felt like he could see Ruki through the flowers. Those white roses were pure, blending perfectly with Ruki’s innocence and his cheerful attitude. And thinking about the fact that he had been so rude towards the boy, the novelist mentally scowled his own behavior. The blonde looked around his room and realized that Naomi was indeed right. His room was a huge mess. He had to do something about it later.

Reita moved the wheelchair towards his working desk where a white porcelain vase stood beautifully with the dried lilies in it. The blonde was observing the blackened flowers, thinking about how many memories were held inside them, memories about him…and his wife…and Sairi. The image of a smiling Minako flashed for a second right in front of his eyes. But instead of feeling sad and crying, the blonde smiled at the illusion.

“You really want me to move forward, don’t you?” he talked at no one in particular, but every creature in this world knew to whom the question was directed.

The blonde smiled softly once again as he reached for the porcelain vase. He took out the lilies from the vase and placed in the white roses he got from Ruki instead. Carefully, the blonde put the vase back on the desk and meanwhile the dried lilies were now securely saved inside a gift box under the wooden furniture. Reita moved backwards a little and smiled in satisfaction when he saw those white roses decorated his work station perfectly.

Reita turned his wheelchair and moved towards a small table in the corner of the room where he left his cellphone earlier that day. Next to his phone was a small opened box which contained a bunch of business cards from his friends and colleagues. The blonde searched for one piece of paper he had left there two weeks ago, and when he finally found it, he couldn’t help but smile to himself. There, in his hand, was a piece of paper with Ruki’s number written on it. Inhaling a deep breath, Reita took his cellphone and carefully dialed the number. It all happened in an instant and the blonde himself didn’t know exactly the reason why he really wanted to see that boy. Even if he wanted to hold back, it was already too late.

And when he heard a cheerful voice answering his call, he knew that he was ready to make a change in his life.
