Floyd Lawton & Zoe Torres // DC Comics // Millibar

Dec 16, 2010 19:42

So down Zoe comes from her room upstairs, ready to face the bar, when she catches sight of the man sitting at the table near the centre. He looks up on noticing he's being noticed, and their eyes meet.

There's the best part of twenty years between them, but they recognise each other instantly. Neither look away.

Snow is great for lurking in. Jason is quite fond of it. Muffles sound, and nobody expects you to be hanging out in the cold.

(Besides, he doesn't wear short shorts any more. Makes things easier.)

He watches, therefore, with interest when his snowy sanctuary is intruded on by an angry person.

The thing about Zoe and anger - or any emotions, is how quick she is to control them as much as possible. The fact that he can tell that she's angry at all is a sign that she's really really angry.

...and there's a guy in a domino mask out here. She stops, and she looks at him.

He looks back. Also, he smirks and gives her a rather sassy one-handed wave.

Zoe raises a hand to return it in kind.

It's a small enough confrontation, in a busy room, but it catches Andy's eye nevertheless.

He watches Lawton for a moment, considering, then pulls on his own jacket and heads for the door after Zoe.

(The snow over the lake is pleasant. Quiet, and open.)

Zoe misses California. Not San Fransciso, obviously, but Star City, which was bright and usually warm and it hardly ever snowed.

The snow's nice, though, when she takes the time to appreciate it.

She's standing with her back to the bar, hands dug deep into her pockets with shoulders hunched against the cold. On hearing someone approaching, she turns her head, though not enough to actually look behind.

He puts his own hands in his pockets, and adjusts his path so that she might see him.

"Miss Zoe?"

"Andy."

She turns around more in order to face him, her mouth which had been blank stretching out into one of her half-smiles.

"How's it going?"
