Let's say this is Milliways, because that way it will be marginally less terrifying when Chainsaw walks into the room. Milliways has rules. It's even possible that he follows them.

He spots the woman and grins as he exits the stairwell. It's always nice to see somebody from home.

Don't worry.

He's off the clock.

Not that that's ever stopped him before.

One way or another, you don't make it through the torturer's academy without finding out what the Chainsaw looks like. It's practically self-preservation; only crazy assholes like Joker or Mesa think it'd be fun to challenge him.

Orfeo notes that she's being observed -- notes who's doing the observing -- pauses -- changes her stance subtly from I own this space to what a lovely public place I am drinking in, I certainly would never dream of staking a claim on it. (She learned how to perform status changes early in life. It's a skill that served her well then and serves her well now.)

She doesn't stop smiling, in spite of the icon to the contrary.

D'aww.

He saunters towards the bar, glancing around the room and grinning at her periodically.

She watches his progress, still smiling faintly.

If he comes towards her, not just towards the bar in general, she'll lift her glass to him in a wry little toast.

um, um, you pick which bar :D? got_your_tongue April 28 2010, 00:19:42 UTC
It's been a while--Doll is, for the purposes of this fantastic endeavor, snug in the sevens--but she remembers that look.

(She thinks she might remember the face, too, from the turns she's done instructing at the academy.)

She sidles up to the bar and orders a beer for herself. "Good day at work?"

^2 it is! :D :D :D chefarosenza April 28 2010, 04:13:44 UTC
Orfeo looks the other woman over, trying to place the name and voice.

"Excellent," she confirms, "thank you."

(She still sits, one high-heeled leg crossed over the other, like she owns the bar -- but if it's a challenge to Doll's higher rank, it's a passive one. Orfeo's not looking for trouble; she's just got the arrogance of youth going for her.)

(Doll doesn't mind a little arrogance; she certainly had her share.)

"You're very welcome," she says, taking a pull of her beer and giving Orfeo a once over in return.

Orfeo gives her a bright grin.

"And how do you do today?"

"Good," he mutters, with deep irony, "heavens."

Saying her heart stops would be taking a lot of poetic license; Orfeo, like most torturers, is intimately familiar with the feeling of her heart stopping. (She's not fond of it, and tries to avoid it when possible.)

It might skip a beat, though.

It's been a very long time since she heard that voice.

He inhales, slowly, holds for a moment, lets that breath out, takes another.

Evenly: "And what are they calling you these days?"

She breathes in.

"Orfeo," she says, with a smirk in her voice. She still hasn't turned to face him. "Like the Gluck."
