When a place shows up behind a door that should go to one's closet three times, one finally gives in and see what all the fuss is about. While well equipped to see if there's anything in one's books about it, of course.
He could probably use a distraction.

"They spelled that wrong." A hand comes from over Regulus' left shoulder, pointing at a string of heiroglyphs in the text. "If you do it like that, you'll be opening a portal right into the centre of Ra, not... whatever they wanted."

It hasn't bitten so far, which makes it marginally safer than Sunnydale. But still.
